Invisible by nature, good housekeeping is only seen by visitors when your staff falls short of the required level of hygiene. A hotel room may host hundreds of different guests year, but none of them want to feel as though they have been used, thus it is the responsibility of your housekeeping staff to make sure that every room is spotless and has never been occupied.
The housekeeping staff is in charge of cleaning guest rooms, making sure that beds are made properly, changing out any used towels, and restocking any other amenities on a daily basis. When a bedroom needs to be ready for a new visitor, a thorough cleaning and complete change of bedding will be required.
Some of your housekeepers should also be in charge of cleaning other hotel front-of-house spaces in addition to the guest bedrooms, but often there will be various teams and shift patterns for this.
Typically, a floor manager or supervisor oversees the housekeeping teams; a separate manager is in charge of each floor. Typically, their duties include scheduling shifts, supervising the housekeeping staff, replenishing supplies, and notifying the appropriate person of any issues or malfunctions with the guest rooms. Fresh bed linens and clean towels are always available thanks to the efforts of linen room attendants and laundry porters. The overall cleaning manager is in charge of all of this, and they collaborate with the rest of the hotel management team to ensure all operations run smoothly.
